Chap. CXLI.— An Act *for the relief of the heirs of Francis Newman.* August 11, 1842. *Be it enacted, &c*., That the Secretary of the Treasury be and he isHis accounts as a collector of taxes to be settled, &c. hereby authorized and directed to settle and adjust the accounts of Francis Newman, late collector of internal revenue and direct taxes for the sixth collection district of Maryland, so as to release his estate from the paymentProviso. of interest on account of the debt which the said Newman owed to the United States as collector aforesaid: *Provided*, That nothing herein contained shall authorize the refunding to said estate any TWENTY-SEVENTH CONGRESS.
