Chap. CLXXIV.— An Act *for the relief of the president, directors, and company of the Agricultural Bank of Mississippi.* August 16, 1842. *Be it enacted, &c*., That the proper accounting officers of the treasury department be, and they are hereby, directed to ascertain whatNecessary expenses, &.c. to be ascertained, and credit given therefor. necessary expenses were incurred by the Agricultural Bank of the state of Mississippi, in receiving the proceeds of the sales of lands in the Chickasaw cession, in the states of Mississippi and Alabama, and transmitting the same from Pontotoc, the place at which they were received, to the said bank at Natchez, or to such points as were from time to time designated by the Secretary of the Treasury, under the authority given to the United States, in the last clause of the eleventh article of the treaty between the United States and the Chickasaw Indians, made on the twenty-fourth day of May, in the year eighteen hundred and thirty-four; and that a credit be allowed upon the debt now due from said bank, on account of the money thus received, for the amount which may be ascertained to have been thus expended, provided the said credit shall not exceed the interest due the United States on said debt.
