(/us/pl/74/746).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Kentucky eastern and western judicial districts.Additional judge authorized for. That the President of the United States be, and he is hereby, authorized to appoint, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, one additional judge of the District Court of the United States for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky. The judge shall be a resident of the State of Kentucky and shall possess the same powers, perform the same duties, and receive the same compensation as the present judges of the respective districts.

That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to cause an examination and survey to be made to determine the best utilization of the surplus waters of the San Juan River, a tributary of the Colorado River, and to determine the best possible use of such waters in the San Juan Basin without injury to the present users of the waters of the San Juan River and by diversion if feasible of a portion of such surplus waters to the Rio Chama, a Report to Congress.tributary of the Rio Grande River, and to report the results of such surveys and examinations to the Congress as soon as possible.
There Sum authorized.is authorized to be appropriated the sum of $50,000, or so much thereof 11So in original. may be necessary, to carry out the purposes of this Act: *Proviso.*Similar examination of Animas River.*Provided*, That $17,500 of the above sum may be expended for a similar examination and survey of the surplus waters of the Animas River, a tributary of the Rio Grande River’, with a view to the diversion, if feasible, of a portion of such surplus waters to the Rio Grande River.
