R. 11140](/us/bill/70/hr/11140).][[Public, No. 246](/us/pl/70/246).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Kings Mountain, S. C., battle field. That, to assist in the studies and investigations of battle fields in the United States 413 for commemorative purposes, authorized by an Act approved June Commission created.Vol. 44, p. 726. 11, 1926 (Public Numbered 372, Sixty-ninth Congress), a commission is hereby created, to be composed of the following members, who Army Engineer officer.A citizen of York, Cleveland, and Cherokee Counties. shall be appointed by the Secretary of War:
(1)A commissioned officer of the Corps of Engineers, United States Army;
(2)a citizen and resident of York County, State of South Carolina;
(3)a citizen and resident of Cleveland County, State of North Carolina;
(4)and a citizen of Cherokee County, South Carolina. Sec. 2. Qualifications of commission. In appointing the members of the commission created by section 1 of this Act the Secretary of War shall, as far as practicable, select persons familiar with the terrain of the battle field of Kings Mountain, South Carolina, and the historical events associated therewith. Sec. 3. Inspection and report on feasibility of preserving, etc., for historical study, etc. It shall be the duty of the commission, acting under the direction of the Secretary of War, to inspect the battle field of Kings Mountain, South Carolina, in order to ascertain the feasibility of preserving and marking for historical and professional military study such field. The commission shall submit a report of its findings and an itemized statement of its expenses to the Secretary of War not later than December 1, 1928. Sec. 4. Amount authorized for expenses.*Post*, p. 929. There is authorized to be appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of $1,000, or such part thereof as may be necessary, in order to carry out the provisions of this Act.
