(/us/pl/74/415).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the Act entitledNavy.Submarine and diving duty. “An Act to provide additional pay for personnel of the United States Navy assigned to duty on submarines and to diving duty” (45 Stat. 412; U. S. C., Supp. VII, title 34, sec. 886) is hereby amendedVol. 45, p. 412.[U. S. C., p. 1567](/us/usc/p1567) by inserting after the words “submarine of the Navy” in line 3 of said Act the words “including submarines under construction for the Navy from the time builders’ trials commence, or on duty at submarine escape training tanks, the Navy Deep Sea Diving School, or the Naval Experimental Diving Unit”, and by inserting after the words “submarine of the Navy” in lines 6 and 7 of said Act the words “including submarines under construction for the Navy from the time builders’ trials commence”, so that the said Act as amended will read as follows:
“That hereafter all officers of the Navy on duty onAdditional pay provisions extended. board a submarine of the Navy, including submarines under construction for the Navy from the time builders’ trials commence, or on duty at submarine escape training tanks, the Navy Deep Sea Diving School, or the Naval Experimental Diving Unit, shall, while so serving, receive 25 per centum additional of the pay for their rank and service as now provided by law: and an enlisted man of the United States Navy assigned to duty aboard a submarine of the Navy, including submarines under construction for the Navy from the time builders’ trials commence, or to the duty of diving, shall, in lieu of the additional pay now authorized, receive pay, under such regulations as may be prescribed by the Secretary of the Navy, at the rate of not less than $5 per month and not exceeding $30 per month, in addition to the pay and allowances of his rating and service: *Provided*, That divers employed in actual salvage operations in*Proviso*.Deep-diving pay; salvage operations. depths of over ninety feet shall, in addition to the foregoing, receive the sum of $5 per hour for each hour or fraction thereof so employed.

That all officers of the Navy and Marine Corps who have been retired or who may hereafter be retired for physical disability and who have been commended for their performance of duty in actual combat with the enemy during the World War by the head of the executive department under whose jurisdiction such duty was performed shall be placed upon the retired list with the rank of the next higher grade: *Proviso.*No pay increase.*Provided*, That such promotion shall not carry with it any increase in pay.
