Consistent with section 271 of title 10, United States Code, if personnel of the Department of Defense are deployed to the southwest border of the United States in support of another Federal department or agency, information collected by personnel of the Department of Defense who operate equipment to monitor movements to or across the southwest border may be shared by the supported Federal department or agency with other Federal, State, or local civilian authorities tasked to monitor movements to or across the southwest border, to the extent such information sharing does not constitute direct participation in law enforcement activities by the Department of Defense.
