The Secretary of State shall establish TechWomen and TechGirls programs designed to empower and inspire women and girls from Latin America and the Caribbean to advance careers in science and technology. In carrying out subsection (a), the Secretary of State shall— during the first 5 years of the programs, prioritize the participation of Colombian women and girls; and take steps to include underrepresented women and girls from across Latin America and the Caribbean, including women from low-income and underrepresented communities, including Afro-Colombian and Indigenous communities, in the programs.
There is authorized to be appropriated $1,000,000 for fiscal year 2023 to carry out this section.
