It is the sense of Congress that— NASA serves as a source of inspiration to the people of the United States; and NASA is uniquely positioned to help increase student interest in science, technology, engineering, and math; engaging students, and providing hands-on experience at an early age, in science, technology, engineering, and math are important aspects of ensuring and promoting United States leadership in innovation; and NASA should strive to leverage its unique position— to increase kindergarten through grade 12 involvement in NASA projects; to enhance higher education in STEM fields in the United States; to support individuals who are underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and math fields, such as women, minorities, and individuals in rural areas; and to provide flight opportunities for student experiments and investigations.
