Section 7115 ( 20 U.S.C. 7425 ) is amended— in subsection (a)— by adjusting the margin of paragraph
(1)to align with paragraphs
(2)and (3); and in paragraph (1), by inserting solely for the services and activities described in such application after section 7114(a) ; in subsection (b)— by redesignating paragraphs
(1)through
(11)as paragraphs
(2)through (12), respectively; by inserting before paragraph (2), as redesignated by subparagraph (A), the following: activities that support Native American language immersion programs and Native American language restoration programs, which may be taught by traditional leaders; ; in paragraph (3), as redesignated by subparagraph (A), by striking early childhood and inserting high-quality early education ; in paragraph (4), as redesignated by subparagraph (A), by striking challenging State academic content and student academic achievement standards and inserting college and career ready State academic content and student academic achievement standards under section 1111(a) ; by striking paragraph (5), as redesignated by subparagraph (A), and inserting the following: integrated educational services in combination with other programs to meet the unique needs of Indian children and their families, including programs that promote parental involvement— in school activities; and to increase student achievement; ; by striking paragraph (7), as redesignated by subparagraph (A), and inserting the following: activities to educate individuals so as to prevent violence, suicide, and substance abuse; ; by striking paragraphs
(10)and (11), as redesignated by subparagraph (A), and inserting the following: activities that incorporate culturally and linguistically relevant curriculum content into classroom instruction that is responsive to the unique learning styles of Indian and Alaska Native children to ensure that such children are better able to meet the student academic achievement standards, consistent with section 1111(a); family literacy activities; ; in paragraph (12), as redesignated by subparagraph (A), by striking children and all that follows through the period and inserting children; and ; and by adding at the end the following: dropout prevention strategies and strategies— to meet the educational needs of at-risk Indian students in correctional facilities; and to support Indian students who are transitioning from such facilities to schools served by local educational agencies. ; in subsection (c)— in paragraph (1)— by striking section 7114(c)(4) and inserting section 7114(c)(5) ; and by striking ; and and inserting a semicolon; in paragraph (2), by striking the period and inserting ; and ; and by adding at the end the following: the local educational agency identifies in its application how the use of such funds in a schoolwide program will produce benefits to the Indian students that would not be achieved if the funds were not used in a schoolwide program. ; and by adding at the end the following: Funds provided to a grantee under this subpart may not be used for long-distance travel expenses for training activities available locally or regionally. .
