§ 2.1500. Purpose and scope.

Link to an amendment published at 91 FR 15771, Mar. 30, 2026. The purpose of this subpart is to provide for simplified, legislative hearing procedures to be used, at the Commission's sole discretion, in:
(a)Any design certification rulemaking hearings under subpart B of part 52 of this chapter that the Commission may choose to conduct; and
(b)Developing a record to assist the Commission in resolving, under § 2.335(d), a petition filed under § 2.335(b).
(c)This subpart shall cease to have effect on January 8, 2027, unless the NRC determines that the cessation deadline should be extended to a date not more than 5 years in the future after offering the public an opportunity to provide input on the costs and benefits of this subpart and considering that input. The NRC will publish a document in the Federal Register announcing its determination and revising or removing this paragraph
