(/us/pvtl/76/22)] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,George H. and Evelyn Pierce.Payment to. That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to George H. Pierce and his wife, Evelyn Pierce, of Harwichport, Massachusetts, the sum of $7,713.88, in full satisfaction of their claim for damages against the Government of the United States on account of personal injuries of a permanent nature suffered by them on December 6, 1937, when the automobile in which they were riding was struck by an automobile belonging to the War Department and operated by an officer of said Department on Route Numbered 3 *Proviso*.Limitation on attorney’s, etc., fees.in the town of Kingston, Massachusetts: *Provided*, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act in excess or 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary Penalty for violation.notwithstanding.
Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved, April 13, 1939.
