That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Mrs. G. A. Brannan the sum of $5,000. Such sum shall be in full satisfaction of all claims against the United States for damages for the death of her son, John Douglas Malone, from injuries received by him in line of duty while employed as a fireman on the steamboat John R.
Meigs, which was destroyed by an explosion of a mine laid by the Government on or about September 3, 1898, near Fort *Proviso*.Immediate payment.Saint Philip in the Mississippi River below New Orleans: *Provided*, That payments shall be made immediately upon and after the passage of this Act.
