March 4, 1929.[[S. 5127](/us/bill/70/s/5127).][[Public, No. 1017](/us/pl/70/1017).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, * Loyal Shawnee Indians.Payment directed of award for war losses of, under treaty of 1868. That there is hereby authorized to be appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of $109,746.25, and the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay said sum to the Indians of the Loyal Shawnee Tribe, their heirs, or legal representatives, in accordance with the official findings, arbitration award, and report of the Secretary of the Interior to Vol. 15, p. 516.Congress made in pursuance of the twelfth article of the treaty between the United States and the Loyal Shawnee Indians, proclaimed October 14, 1868 (Fifteenth Statutes at Large, page 513); which claims are similar to but not included with those of the *Ante*, p. 18.Shawnee Indians for whom an appropriation was made by Act of December 22, 1927 (Public, Numbered 2, Seventieth Congress, first *Provisos*.Allowance to attorneys.session): *Provided*, That there shall be paid to the duly authorized attorneys of said respective Loyal Shawnee Indians, their duly proven and established heirs, or their attorneys in fact, 5 per centum of the amount due on the respective claims of said Indians against the Government, when said Indians’ right to receive payment is Receipt required.established: *And provided further*, That before payment of the amount due said Loyal Shawnee Indian or his heirs or assigns or to their duly authorized attorneys, receipt shall be executed by or on behalf of said Indian claimants, or their legal representative, acknowledging payment of their claim against the United States, which receipt shall be approved by the Commissioner of Indian Affairs.
Committee of tribe to execute releases for beneficiaries without legal representatives.A committee of five male adult members of the Loyal Shawnee Tribe, to be selected under direction of the Commissioner of Indian Affairs, with its headquarters at Vinita, Oklahoma, shall execute a release on behalf of all beneficiaries having no legal representatives. Approved, March 4, 1929.
