April 16, 1928.[[H. R. 405](/us/bill/70/hr/405).][[Public, No. 278](/us/pl/70/278).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* That the Secretary Southern Great Plains.Propagation directed of trees, shrubs, etc., adapted to.Agriculture is hereby authorized and directed to cause such shade, ornamental, fruit, and shelter belt trees, shrubs, and vines as are adapted to the conditions and needs of the southern Great Plains area, comprised of those parts of the States of Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico lying west of the ninety-eighth meridian and east of the five thousand-loot contour line, to 431be propagated at one of the existing field stations of the Department Distribution from Agricultural Department field station free for experiments, etc.of Agriculture in such area, and seedlings and cuttings and seeds of such trees, shrubs, and vines to be distributed free of charge under such regulations as he may prescribe for experimental and demonstration purposes within such area.
Sec. 2. That for carrying out the purposes of this Act, including Amount authorized for land and buildings.*Post,* p. 1201.purchase of land and erection of buildings, there is hereby authorized to be appropriated the sum of $35,000, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to be expended under the supervision of the Secretary of Agriculture. Sec. 3. That there is hereby authorized to be appropriated each Annual appropriations authorized for experiments.fiscal year thereafter necessary appropriations to enable the Secretary of Agriculture to carry on the experiments contemplated by this Act.
