February 21, 1929.[[H. R. 8736](/us/bill/70/hr/8736).][[Public, No. 792](/us/pl/70/792).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Battles of Brices Cross Roads and Tupelo, Miss.Sites to be acquired for markers to commemorate. That for the purpose of commemorating the battles of Brices Cross Roads, Mississippi, and Tupelo, Mississippi, the Secretary of War is authorized and directed to
(1)acquire not to exceed one acre of land, free of cost to the United States, at each of the above-named battle fields,
(2)fence each parcel of land so acquired,
(3)build an approach to each such parcel of land, and
(4)erect a suitable marker on each such parcel of land. Sec. 2. Sum authorized.*Post*, p. 1666.There is authorized to be appropriated $10,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, to carry out the provisions of section 1 of this Act. Sec. 3. Control of Secretary of War.Maintenance.Each parcel of land acquired under section 1 of this Act shall be under the jurisdiction and control of the Secretary of War, and there is authorized to be appropriated for the maintenance of each such parcel of land, fence, approach, and marker a sum not to exceed $250 per annum.
