That the sum of two hundred and sixty-five thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby, appropriated, for the compensation granted by law to the Senate and House of Representatives, and to the officers and clerks, and servants of both houses of Congress, and for defraying the contingent expenses thereof; and that the same be paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated. Approved, December 15, 1824.
