Chap. CLXXVIII.— An Act making an appropriation for the use if the library of Congress, and for furnishing rooms in the Capitol.May 26, 1824. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* That5000 dollars appropriated for the purchase of books. the sum of live thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby, appropriated, out of any unappropriated money in the treasury, for the purchase of books, under the direction of the joint library committee, for the use of the library of Congress.
Sec. 2. *And be it further enacted,* That1546 dollars for the purchase of furniture. the sum of fifteen hundred and forty-six dollars be, and the same is hereby, appropriated, out of any unappropriated money in the treasury, for the purchase of furniture for the new library. Sec. 3. *And be it further enacted,* That the sum of three thousandEIGHTEENTH CONGRESS. Sess. I. Ch. 179. 1824.61 two hundred and eighty-nine dollars and fifty cents be, and the same isFor furnishing the rooms in the centre building of the Capitol. hereby, appropriated, to be paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, for furnishing the rooms in the centre building of the Capitol, under the direction of the commissioner of the public buildings.
