Brent. February 28, 1899. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the Secretary of theSamuel J. Brent, administrator, etc. Treasury be, and he hereby is, instructed to issue duplicates in name of Samuel J. Brent, administrator de bonis non of the estate of Reverend J. Brent, in lieu of United States four per centum registered bonds issued under the Acts of July fourteenth, eighteen hundred andVol. 16. pp. 272, 399. seventy, and January twentieth, eighteen hundred and seventy-one, numbered thirty-six thousand and twenty eight, thirty-six thousand two hundred and forty-one, for five hundred dollars each, and numbered sixty six thousand six hundred and twenty-eight, for one thousand dollars, inscribed in name of Reverend J.
Brent; also, to issue a duplicateIssue of duplicates of lost bonds. in name of Samuel J. Brent, executor of Frances Brent, in lieu of United States four per centum registered bond issued under the Acts of July fourteenth, eighteen hundred and seventy, and January twentieth, eighteen hundred and seventy-one, numbered ninety-nine thousand and thirty-four, for one thousand dollars, inscribed in name of Frances Brent, said bonds, it is alleged, having been lost or destroyed: *Provided*, That the said Samuel J.
Brent, as administrator and as*Proviso*.Indemnity bond. executor, shall first execute and file in the Treasury bonds in the penal1530FIFTY-FIFTH CONGRESS. Sess. III. Chs. 232–236. 1899. sum double to the amounts, respectively, of the lost or destroyed bonds, and the interest which would accrue thereon until the principal thereof becomes due or payable, with sufficient sureties to be approved by the Secretary of the Treasury, with condition to indemnify and save harmless the United States from any claim because of said lost or destroyed bonds.
