Chap. XXXI.— An Act *to establish the Districts of Mumphreymagog, of Oswegatchie, and of the White Mountains.*March 2, 1811. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,*Mumphreymagog district established. That from and after the first day of April next, all that part of the state of Vermont, lying east of lake Mumphreymagog, and including also all such shores and waters of the said lake, as lie within the said state, shall constitute a district, to be called the district of Mumphreymagog; of which Derby shall be the sole port of entry; and a collector for the said district shall be appointed to reside at the said port of entry.
Sec. 2. *And be it further enacted,* That from and after the first day656 ELEVENTH CONGRESS. Sess. III. Ch. 32. 1811. ofOswegatchie district established. April next, all the shores and waters of the river St. Lawrence, which lie in the state of New York, east of the western boundary of the county of St. Lawrence, and west of the western boundary of the collection district of Champlain, shall constitute a district to be called the district of Oswegatchie, of which Ogdenburgh shall be the sole port of entry, and a collector for the said district shall be appointed to reside at Ogdenburgh.
And the President of the United States is authorized to establish another place in the said district to be a port of delivery only; and a surveyor shall be appointed to reside at such port of delivery. Sec. 3. *And be it further enacted,* ThatWhite mountain a district established. all that part of the state of New Hampshire which lies adjacent to the northern boundary of the United States, and north of forty-four degrees thirty minutes north latitude, shall from and after the first day of April next, constitute a district to be called the district of “White Mountains;” the President of the United States is authorized to establish a place in the said district to be the port of entry; and a collector shall be appointed to reside at the said place.
Sec. 4. *And be it further enacted,* ThatPort of entry for district of Vermont may be altered. the President of the United States be, and he is hereby authorized to alter the place which had heretofore been designated to be the port of entry for the district of Vermont, and to establish another place to be such port of entry. Sec. 5. *And be it further enacted,* ThatCompensations of the collectors. from and after the first day of April next, the collectors of the districts established by this act, and the collectors of the districts of Vermont, Champlain and Sackett’s Harbour and Oswego, shall each receive, in addition to the fees and commissions1799, ch. 22. allowed by law, an annual salary of five hundred dollars a year; and the annual salary heretofore allowed to the collectors of the three last mentioned districts shall, from and after the said first day of April, be discontinued; and the surveyor to be appointed for the district of Oswegatchie shall receive, in addition to the fees allowed by law, a salary of one hundred and fifty dollars a year.
