## SEC. 5099 MISSISSIPPI RIVER, MISSOURI AND ILLINOIS As a part of the operation and maintenance of the project for the Mississippi River (Regulating Works), between the Ohio and Missouri Rivers, Missouri and Illinois, authorized by the first section of an Act entitled “Making appropriations for the construction, repair, and preservation of certain public works on rivers and harbors, and for other purposes”, approved June 25, 1910 (36 Stat. 630), the Secretary may carry out activities necessary to restore and protect fish and wildlife habitat in the middle Mississippi River system.
Such activities may include modification of navigation training structures, modification and creation of side channels, modification and creation of islands, and studies and analysis necessary to apply adaptive management principles in design of future work.
