## SEC. 1654 MODIFICATION OF MILESTONE DECISION AUTHORITY FOR SPACE-BASED GROUND AND AIRBORNE MOVING TARGET INDICATION SYSTEMS ###
(a)Milestone Decision Authority Subsection
(b)of section 1684 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024 (Public Law 118–31; 10 U.S.C. 2271 note) is amended— ####
(1)by inserting “the” after “shall be”; ####
(2)by striking “for Milestone A approval (as defined in section 4211 of such title)”; ####
(3)by striking “ The Secretary of the Air Force ” and inserting the following: > > #### “(1) In general > > The Secretary of the Air Force” > ; and ####
(4)by adding at the end the following new paragraph (2): > > #### “(2) Appointment of program executive officer > > The service acquisition executive for the Air Force for space systems and programs shall appoint a program executive officer, and designate an office, for the acquisition of space-based air and moving target indication systems.” > . ###
(b)Initial Operational Capability Such section is further amended— ####
(1)by redesignating subsection
(c)as subsection (d); and ####
(2)by inserting after subsection
(b)the following new subsection (c): > > ### “(c) Initial Operational Capability > > Not later than May 31, 2025, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff shall— > > > #### “(1) > > designate a date by which the space-based ground moving target indication system will achieve initial operational capability; and > > > #### “(2) > > notify the congressional defense committees of such date.” > .
