## SEC. 1309 TRAINING, ADVISING, AND INSTITUTIONAL CAPACITY-BUILDING PROGRAM FOR MILITARY FORCES OF TAIWAN ###
(a)Establishment **[**[22 U.S.C. 3357b](/us/usc/t22/s3357b)**]** Consistent with the Taiwan Relations Act (22 U.S.C. 3301 et seq.) and pursuant to section 5504 of the Taiwan Enhanced Resilience Act (22 U.S.C. 3353), the Secretary of Defense, in consultation with appropriate officials of Taiwan, shall establish a comprehensive training, advising, and institutional capacity-building program for the military forces of Taiwan using the authorities provided in chapter 16 of title 10, United States Code, and other applicable statutory authorities available to the Secretary of Defense. ###
(b)Reporting Section 1248(a) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 (Public Law 117- 81; 135 Stat. 1988) is amended— ####
(1)by redesignating paragraph
(15)as paragraph (16); and ####
(2)by inserting after paragraph
(14)the following new paragraph: > > #### “(15) > > An update on efforts made to establish the program authorized by subsection
(a)of section 1309 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024 and an identification of any authority or resource shortfall that inhibits such efforts.” > .
