## SEC. 1222 MODIFICATION AND EXTENSION OF AUTHORITY TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO COUNTER THE ISLAMIC STATE OF IRAQ AND THE LEVANT ###
(a)Authority Subsection
(a)of section 1236 of the Carl Levin and Howard P. “Buck” McKeon National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015 (Public Law 113-291; 128 Stat. 3559) is amended by striking “December 31, 2016” and inserting “December 31, 2018”. ###
(b)Funding Subsection
(g)of such section, as amended by section 1223 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2016 (Public Law 114-92; 129 Stat. 1049), is further amended— ####
(1)by striking the first sentence and inserting the following: “Of the amounts authorized to be appropriated in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 for Overseas Contingency Operations in title XV for fiscal year 2017, there are authorized to be appropriated $630,000,000 to carry out this section.”; and ####
(2)by striking the second sentence. ###
(c)Additional Assessment on Certain Actions by Government of Iraq Subsection
(l)of such section, as added by section 1223(e) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2016 (Public Law 114-92; 129 Stat. 1050), is amended in paragraph (1)(A) by striking “National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2016” and inserting “National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017, and annually thereafter”. ###
(d)Prohibition on Assistance and Report on Equipment or Supplies Transferred to or Acquired by Violent Extremist Organizations Subsection
(f)of section 1223 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2016 (Public Law 114-92; 129 Stat. 1050) is amended— ####
(1)in paragraph (1)— #####
(A)by striking “, as so amended,”; and #####
(B)by inserting “(and annually thereafter until December 31, 2018)” after “certifies to the appropriate congressional committees, after the date of the enactment of this Act”; and ####
(2)in paragraph (2), by striking “, as so amended,”.
