## SEC. 703 EXPANSION OF CONTINUED HEALTH BENEFITS COVERAGE TO INCLUDE DISCHARGED AND RELEASED MEMBERS OF THE SELECTED RESERVE ###
(a)In general Subsection
(b)of section 1078a of title 10, United States Code, is amended— ####
(1)by redesignating paragraphs
(2)through
(4)as paragraphs
(3)through (5), respectively; and ####
(2)by inserting after paragraph
(1)the following new paragraph (2): > > #### “(2) > > A member of the Selected Reserve of the Ready Reserve of a reserve component of the armed forces who— > > > ##### “(A) > > is discharged or released from service in the Selected Reserve, whether voluntarily or involuntarily, under other than adverse conditions, as characterized by the Secretary concerned; > > > ##### “(B) > > immediately preceding that discharge or release, is enrolled in TRICARE Reserve Select; and > > > ##### “(C) > > after that discharge or release, would not otherwise be eligible for any benefits under this chapter.” > . ###
(b)Notification of Eligibility Subsection (c)(2) of such section is amended by inserting “or subsection (b)(2)” after “subsection (b)(1)”. ###
(c)Election of Coverage Subsection
(d)of such section is amended— ####
(1)by redesignating paragraphs
(2)through
(4)as paragraphs
(3)through (5), respectively; and ####
(2)by inserting after paragraph
(1)the following new paragraph (2): > > #### “(2) > > In the case of a member described in subsection (b)(2), the written election shall be submitted to the Secretary concerned before the end of the 60-day period beginning on the later of— > > > ##### “(A) > > the date of the discharge or release of the member from service in the Selected Reserve; and > > > ##### “(B) > > the date the member receives the notification required pursuant to subsection (c).” > . ###
(d)Coverage of Dependents Subsection
(e)of such section is amended by inserting “or subsection (b)(2)” after “subsection (b)(1)”. ###
(e)Period of Continued Coverage Subsection (g)(1) of such section is amended— ####
(1)by redesignating subparagraphs
(B)through
(D)as subparagraphs
(C)through (E); and ####
(2)by inserting after subparagraph
(A)the following new subparagraph (B): > > ##### “(B) > > in the case of a member described in subsection (b)(2), the date which is 18 months after the date the member ceases to be eligible to enroll in TRICARE Reserve Select;” > . ###
(f)TRICARE Reserve Select Defined Such section is further amended by adding at the end the following new subsection: > > ### “(h) TRICARE Reserve Select Defined > > In this section, the term ‘TRICARE Reserve Select’ means TRICARE Standard coverage provided under section 1076d of this title.” > . ###
(g)Conforming Amendments Such section is further amended— ####
