The Double-Crested Cormorant, often popularly referred to as a "water turkey", is hereby declared a nuisance. As such, the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation will work with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and the Oklahoma Congressional Delegation to eliminate international treaty protection for the cormorant and implement maximum control measures, including but not limited to setting hunting seasons as appropriate. Laws 1992, c. 158, § 1, emerg. eff. May 5, 1992.
