the dollar. In order to equate the current rate of compensation of Commonwealth's attorneys, county clerks, county judges/executive, county attorneys, sheriffs, justices of the peace, and commissioners with the present value and purchasing power of the dollar, the court required by law to fix the compensation of the officials named in this section may, on or before September 1, 1974, adjust said officials' compensation within the limits set forth in Acts 1974, Chapter 254, and may provide that said officials be entitled to the maximum amount of compensation for the entire 1974 calendar year.
