(1)The Secretary of State shall maintain an electronic database of notaries public:
(a)Through which a person may verify the authority of a notary public to perform
notarial acts; and
(b)Which indicates whether a notary public has registered with the Secretary of
State in order to perform notarial acts on electronic records or to act as an
online notary public.
(2)Each county clerk who files a notary public's assurance and administers the oath of
office to a notary public shall promptly record the fact and date in the database
described in subsection
(1)of this section.
