Section 221 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 ( Public Law 117–81 ) is amended— in subsection (a), by adding at the end the following new sentence: A minimum of two motor technologies with comparable efficiency, weight, and space characteristics shall be tested in full scale to mitigate program risk and provide sufficient competition prior to down selecting to a class decision. ; in subsection (c), by striking paragraph
(1)and inserting the following new paragraph (1): Two electrical propulsion motor technologies. ; and in subsection (d)(1), by inserting that incorporates two propulsion motor technology options before the period at the end.
