Sec. 1083. Enhancement of special operations riverine capability

Not later than 270 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict and the Commander of the United States Special Operations Command shall submit to the congressional defense committees a plan for the sustainment and enhancement of a special operations riverine capability within United States Special Operations Command through fiscal year 2035. The plan required under subsection
(a)shall include, at a minimum, the following: An articulation of the value of special operations riverine capabilities to accomplishing the objectives of the national defense strategy. Manpower requirements and sourcing. Sustainment, recapitalization, and modernization of Special Operations Craft-Riverine maritime craft. The advisability and feasibility of developing a future riverine maritime craft. Bolstering research, experimentation, and prototyping efforts related to riverine, coastal, and other maritime capabilities, to include unmanned surface vessels, including through the identification of opportunities to expand such efforts through additional manpower, funding, and collaborative relationships with relevant elements of the Federal Government and commercial industry. Identification of infrastructure and training range requirements and opportunities for improvements. Any other matters the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict and the Commander of United States Special Operations Command determine relevant.
