Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code, is amended— in subsection (a), by adding at the end the following new paragraphs: Any position in support of aircraft operations for which the Secretary determines there is a critical hiring need and shortage of candidates. Any position in support of the safety of the public, law enforcement, or first response for which the Secretary determines there is a critical hiring need and shortage of candidates. Any position in support of the Office of the Inspector General of the Department relating to oversight of the conflict in Ukraine for which the Secretary determines there is a critical hiring need and shortage of candidates. ; and in subsection (b)(1), by striking September 30, 2025 and inserting September 30, 2030 .
