Sec. 737. Transportation of organs

Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this section, the Administrator, in coordination with relevant Federal agencies and stakeholders, shall issue a rulemaking to— establish a safe, standardized process for a commercial airline's acceptance, handling, management, and transportation of an organ in the cabin of an aircraft; require each commercial airline to establish a protocol to ensure the safe and timely transport of an organ in the cabin of the aircraft, including through any connecting flight; and identify metrics regarding the handling of organs by commercial airlines in order to increase transparency and aid the development of best practices and improvement initiatives.
For purposes of this section, the term organ — has the meaning given such term in section 121.2 of title 42, Code of Federal Regulations; and includes organ-related tissue.
