The Executive Director of the UAS Integration Office of the Federal Aviation Administration shall— support rulemaking proceedings, in coordination with the Assistant Administrator of Rulemaking and Regulatory Improvement, regarding the integration of unmanned aircraft systems into the national airspace system; support the review and adjudication of submissions under the processes established under section 44807 of title 49, United States Code, as amended by section 605; support the development, modification, and acceptance or approval of relevant consensus standards, means of compliance, and declarations of compliance related to unmanned aircraft systems; ensure the timely consideration of airworthiness and operational determinations related to unmanned aircraft systems by relevant offices of the Administration; consult, advise, and coordinate with relevant lines of business and staff offices of the Administration to support the activities of the Administration and efficiently carry out the duties described in this section; hire full-time equivalent employees, as necessary, to build expertise within the UAS Integration Office to assess unmanned aviation technologies and related operational risk mitigation; and engage in any other activities determined necessary by the Executive Director or the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, to fulfill the duties described in this section.
