The Secretary, acting through the Assistant Secretary and in coordination with the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, shall continue to improve efforts to enhance screening and identification of contaminants in drugs to prevent overdoses. The Secretary shall conduct or support research for the development or improvement of portable and affordable technologies related to checking drugs for fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances, including chemical screening device methods.
