There is authorized to be appropriated to the Director of the Bureau of Indian Affairs to carry out the Housing Improvement Program of the Bureau of Indian Affairs authorized under the Act of November 2, 1921 ( 25 U.S.C. 13 ) (commonly known as the Snyder Act ), and there is appropriated, out of any monies in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, $400,000,000 for fiscal year 2023 and each fiscal year thereafter. The amount made available under subsection
(a)for fiscal year 2024 and each fiscal year thereafter shall be adjusted annually to reflect the change in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The Bureau of Indian Affairs shall engage in Tribal consultation to ensure that the Housing Improvement Program’s funding formula does not disadvantage Indian tribes of certain sizes or from certain Bureau of Indian Affairs regions.
