Chapter 7 of title 37, United States Code, is amended by inserting after section 425 the following new section: The Secretary of the military department concerned may pay, to a covered member, a monthly allowance for a gym membership. A monthly allowance to a covered member under this section shall be in an amount determined by the Secretary of Defense based on the average cost of a gym membership in the military housing area in which the covered member resides. In this section:
The term covered armed force means the following: The Army. The Navy. The Marine Corps. The Air Force. The Space Force. The term covered member means a member of a covered armed force— who resides more than 10 miles from a military installation; and who furnishes to the Secretary of the military department concerned receipts or other evidence such member has a gym membership. . The table of sections at the beginning of such chapter is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 425 the following: 426.
