Sec. 1228. Report on the U.N. arms embargo on Iran

Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of State, in consultation with the Secretary of Defense, shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the House of Representatives and the Senate, the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives, and the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate a report that includes a detailed description of— an assessment of the U.N. arms embargo on Iran on its effectiveness in constraining Iran’s ability to supply, sell, or transfer, directly or indirectly, arms or related materiel, including spare parts, when it was in place; and the measures that the Departments of State and Defense are taking to constrain Iranian arms proliferation and combat the supply, sale, or transfer of weapons to or from Iran.
