Sec. 25006. Funding to support unpaid caregivers

In addition to amounts otherwise available, there is appropriated to the Secretary of Health and Human Services (referred to in this section as the Secretary ) for fiscal year 2022, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, $40,000,000, to remain available until expended, for carrying out the purpose described in subsection (b). The Secretary, acting through the Assistant Secretary for Aging, shall use amounts appropriated by subsection
(a)for necessary expenses to make awards, pursuant to section 373(i) of the Older Americans Act of 1965 ( 42 U.S.C. 3030s–1(i) ), to States, public agencies, private nonprofit agencies, institutions of higher education, and organizations, including Tribal organizations, for initiatives to address the behavioral health needs of family caregivers and older relative caregivers. Amounts appropriated by this section shall be used to supplement and not supplant other Federal, State, or local public funds to support unpaid caregivers.
