Section 301(a)(8) ( 16 U.S.C. 1851(a)(8) ) is amended to read as follows: Conservation and management measures shall, consistent with the conservation requirements of this Act (including the prevention of overfishing and rebuilding of overfished stocks), provide for the sustained participation by fishery-dependent communities, to the extent practicable, by using economic and social data that meets the requirements of paragraph
(2)to— minimize adverse economic impacts on such communities; and include measurable objectives and tangible strategies that provide residents of local fishing communities with sustained access to adjacent fisheries. . Not later than 60 days after the date of enactment of this section, the Secretary shall update the advisory guidelines required under section 301(b) of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act ( 16 U.S.C. 1851(b) ) to be consistent with the amendment made by this section.
