The Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Agency for Global Media shall develop and implement a plan to provide expanded media content to the Pacific Islands and partner with journalists in the Pacific Islands. Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Chief Executive Officer shall provide the appropriate congressional committees a briefing on the plan developed under this section. The briefing required by paragraph
(1)shall include— an assessment of facilities and costs to expand coverage to the Pacific Islands, including options to utilize Voice of America affiliates; an identification of objectives, means of implementation, and measures of success for the plan; and an assessment on the scope and impact of media training efforts and people-to-people engagements organized by other countries for the Pacific Islands. There are authorized to be appropriated $2,000,000 for each of the fiscal years 2022 through 2026 to carry out this section.
