Not later than one year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General of the United States shall enter into an arrangement with the National Academy of Medicine (or, if the Academy declines, another appropriate entity) to— submit to the Congress a report on overdose prevention centers; and include in such report— a review of the effectiveness of legally authorized overdose prevention centers in the United States and abroad on lowering overdose deaths; and an assessment of the effectiveness of overdose prevention centers on improving access to medication-assisted treatment and recovery services.
