Sec. 1606. Space Development Agency development requirements and transfer to Space Force

The Director of the Space Development Agency shall lead— the development and demonstration of a resilient military space-based sensing, tracking, and data transport architecture that primarily uses a proliferated low-Earth orbit; and the integration of next-generation space capabilities, and sensor and tracking components (including a hypersonic and ballistic missile-tracking space sensor payload), into such architecture to address the requirements and needs of the Armed Forces and combatant commands for such capabilities.
On October 1, 2022, or earlier if directed by the Secretary of Defense, the Space Development Agency shall be transferred from the Office of the Secretary of Defense to the United States Space Force and shall maintain the same organizational reporting requirements and acquisition authorities as the Space Rapid Capability Office.
