Sec. 5301. Life cycle sustainment annual report for major weapon systems of the Department of Defense

The Secretary of Defense shall provide the congressional defense committees with an annual report for the life cycle sustainment of each major weapon system as defined in (b). The Secretary of Defense shall ensure the report described in subsection (a)— identifies a goal for material availability, material reliability, and mean down time metrics for each weapons system and includes an explanation of factors that may preclude the Secretary of the military department concerned from meeting that goal; and reflects the period covered by the future-years defense program specified by section 221 of title 10, United States Code, with respect to the budget for which the budget exhibit is prepared.
To be submitted by February 1st of each year.
