Kari Section 53708(b)(2) of title 46, United States Code, is amended— in subparagraph
(A)by striking or at the end; in subparagraph
(B)by striking increased fuel efficiency or improved safety. and inserting improved safety; or ; and by adding at the end the following: increasing fuel efficiency and reducing fuel usage, which may include— installation of solar panels; engine replacement or retrofit, including the installation of new fuel-efficient, low-emission engines, including hybrid electric marine engines or generators; gearbox or propeller replacement; modifications to hull shape; and modifications to fishing gear. .
