Sec. 304. Fellowship awards

The Secretary shall make available National Coral Reef Management Fellowship in accordance with this subsection. National Coral Reef Management Fellowship awarded under this section shall be for not more than 24 months. A successful program applicant shall be an individual who has demonstrated— an intent to pursue a career in marine services and outstanding potential for such a career; leadership potential or actual leadership experience; diverse life experience; proficient writing and speaking skills; and such other attributes as are considered to be appropriate by the Director.
Except as provided in paragraph (2), the non-Federal share of the costs of a fellowship under this section shall be 25 percent of such costs. The Secretary may waive the application of paragraph
(1)if the Secretary finds that such waiver is necessary to support a project that the Secretary has identified as of high priority. There are authorized to be appropriated to the Secretary such sums as are necessary to carry out this section, to remain available until expended.
