Subsection
(a)of section 217 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2014 ( Public Law 113–66 ; 127 Stat. 706), as amended by section 1662 of the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 ( Public Law 115–232 ; 132 Stat. 2152), is amended to read as follows: The Secretary of the Air Force shall develop a follow-on air-launched cruise missile to the AGM–86 that— achieves initial operating capability for nuclear missions prior to the retirement of the nuclear-armed AGM–86; and is capable of internal carriage and employment for nuclear missions on the next-generation long-range strike bomber. .
