Sec. 731. Report on Global Health Security Strategy and the National Biodefense Security

Not later than 180 days after the date on which the Comptroller General of the United States publishes a review of the National Biodefense Strategy, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a report on the implementation of the Global Health Security Strategy and the National Biodefense Strategy. The report under subsection
(a)shall, at a minimum— designate the individual and offices responsible for overseeing the implementation of each strategy referred to in subsection
(a)within the Department of Defense; detail actions that the Department is taking to support implementation of the Global Health Security Agenda; detail actions taken to coordinate the efforts of the Department with the other agencies responsible for the Global Health Security Strategy and National Biodefense Strategy; and with respect to the review of the National Biodefense Strategy conducted by the Comptroller General— detail the recommendations in the review that the Secretary plans on or is currently implementing; specify the official implementing such recommendations and the actions the official is taking to implement the recommendations; specify the recommendations in the review that the Secretary has determined not to implement; and explain the rationale of the Secretary with respect to not implementing such recommendations. In this section, the term appropriate congressional committees means— the congressional defense committees; the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Energy and Commerce of the House of Representatives; and the Committee on Foreign Relations and the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions of the Senate.
