Section 1021 of the Ronald W. Reagan National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2005 ( Public Law 108–375 ; 118 Stat. 2042), as most recently amended by section 1013 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 ( Public Law 114–328 ; 130 Stat. 2385), is further amended— in subsection (a)(1), by striking 2019 and inserting 2022 ; and in subsection (c), by striking 2019 and inserting 2022 . Subsection
(a)of such section 1021 is further amended— in paragraph (1), by striking organizations designated as and all that follows and inserting terrorist organizations and other illegally armed groups determined by the Secretary of Defense to pose a significant threat to the national security interests of the United States. ; and in paragraph (2), by striking authority and all that follows and inserting “authority as follows: To protect human health and welfare in emergency circumstances, including the undertaking of rescue operations. To support efforts to demobilize, disarm, and reintegrate members of illegally armed groups. .
