The Comptroller General of the United States shall conduct a study on the condition of the public school facilities of the United States. In conducting the study under subsection (a), the Comptroller General shall study the following factors related to supporting a 21st century education: Structural integrity. Plumbing. Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Compliance with fire and safety codes. Compliance with Federal laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 ( 42 U.S.C. 12101 et seq.).
Lighting. Indoor air quality. Environmental conditions, such as exposure to asbestos, lead, and mold. Physical security. Sufficient space for instruction. Not later than 18 months after the date of enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General shall submit to the Committee on Appropriations and the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions of the Senate, and the Committee on Appropriations and the Committee on Education and the Workforce of the House of Representatives, the findings of the study under this section.
