Sec. 517. Use of National Guard in case of a major disaster or request from a State governor

The President shall order members of the National Guard in a State to full-time National Guard duty or active Guard and Reserve duty under section 502(f) of title 32, United States Code, if— the Governor of the State requests such an order; and the President declares that a major disaster exists— in that State and one or more other States is participating in the response to the disaster; or in two States described in subparagraph
(A)because of the same event.
