Sec. 1612. Plan on space warfighting readiness

Not later than 60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall develop, and commence the implementation of, a plan that— identifies joint mission-essential tasks for space as a warfighting domain; identifies any additional authorities, or delegated authorities, that would need to accompany the employment of forces to meet such mission-essential tasks; meets the readiness requirements for space warfighting, including with respect to equipment, training, and personnel, to meet such mission-essential tasks; and considers the contributions by allies and partners of the United States with respect to defense space capabilities to increase burden sharing across space systems, as appropriate.
Not later than 60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall provide to the Committees on Armed Services of the House of Representatives and the Senate, and to any other congressional defense committee upon request, a briefing describing the authorities identified under subsection (a)(2) that the Secretary determines require legislative action.
